I love to paint in my spare time. It’s something I’ve enjoyed since childhood – even at school, apart from singing, my favourite lessons were those aspects of geography or history where I was given the opportunity to draw.

I’m not a prolific painter, I have to be motivated by an image that really captures my imagination. However, living in Rostrevor, a small picturesque village on the shores of Carlingford Lough, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, I can’t complain about a  lack of  inspiring views.

I’ve painted the sea and the mountains in acrylics and in oils, on canvas and on board.
I’ve also used locally woven tweed to create collages of my favourite scenes in the Mournes.

I also draw inspiration from Irish music and dance. My favourite subjects are set dancers, and session musicians. My work has featured in local exhibitions, and my daughter Eimear and I exhibit together at Fiddlers Green Festival.
